Areas of restricted access

Various plantation forests

As the manager of many plantations and plantation roads on state forest land tenure, we aim to keep these accessible to the public whenever possible. Most closures are limited to temporary periods following extreme weather, or during forest operations and road maintenance and repair.

However, there are some areas where we need to close or restrict small areas for longer periods of time, sometimes even permanently. This may be for safety, amenity, or environmental or asset protection from poor public behaviour. Often the restriction only applies to motorised access and other forms of recreation such as walking or cycling are still permitted.

Please see the list of areas that are restricted and the reason for the restriction. Access to these areas is enforceable under the Forestry Act and penalties for non-compliance include being issued with an infringement notice or a notice to appear in court.
