The Opportunity

Following an internal promotion,  we are now seeking a Lead Planning Forester for our Regional Planning team.  Based at our office in the charming small town of Blackbutt, often aptly referred to as timber town. This location is renowned for its picturesque  gateway to the South Burnett region and is less than 2 hours by car to Brisbane, Toowoomba or the Sunshine Coast.

Supporting the Regional Planning Manager, you will drive the development and implementation of operational plans and develop tactical planning frameworks while contributing to work programs across regional operational functions.  Through a collaborative approach you will also take on the challenges and opportunities to achieve our custodial and fire management goals including stakeholder engagement.

Beyond a proactive work ethic driven to achieve high quality results, the skills, qualification, and experience that will help you to thrive in this role include:

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in forestry, environmental management, natural resource management or a similar and relevant field with at least 5 years commercial forest plantation experience, or similar relevant experience in; Silviculture, Roading, Harvest and haulage, Fire management, General plantation management (e.g. stewardship, planning and or resources).

  • Highly competent in the use of forest management Systems such as ArcGIS and Business Intelligence reporting;

  • Existing fire management qualification, or a willingness to obtain Sector Commander and/or appropriate Incident Management Team (IMT) accreditation; and

  • Unrestricted “C” class drivers licence.
