Bill McCallum

Bill joined HQP at the beginning of 2023 as Interim CEO and will remain in the role until Jason Wilson commences in the role permanently from April. As CEO, Bill leads the company’s business functions and is accountable for all aspects of performance. Bill will lead the company with strong focus on stewardship of people and the environment, operational excellence, continuous improvement and the fulfilment of HQP’s fiduciary duties.

Bill studied forestry at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand and holds an MBA from Otago University. He has been involved in the industry since 1976, holding positions in New Zealand, Australia and Argentina in forest operations, sales and marketing, acquisitions and equity relations.

He was General Manager of Manulife Forest Management New Zealand from 2003 through 2016 prior to his appointment as Managing Director of Manulife’s forest and agricultural operations in New Zealand and Australia. Bill was also a Director of HQPlantations from 2017 to 2020.

Bill is a past president of the NZ Forest Owners Association and the NZ Wood Council and a Trustee of the New Zealand Forest Industry Safety Council.
