HQPlantations closed due to rainfall

Heavy rainfall and persistent rain forecast to continue over the week has resulted in plantation closures for public safety and protection of the plantation road network in the Inland, Coastal and Central Queensland regions. This is in addition to the North Queensland closure. Passchendaele remains open.

Plantation closures apply to all members of the public including walkers, cyclists, horse riders, photographers, and people riding motor bikes or driving in cars and 4WD's.

The status of the closure will be reassessed on Friday 13 March 2026 and updated on the closure page on our website.

We are appealing to all recreation users to respect these closures so that safe and responsible access to the plantations can be restored as soon as possible.

We'd also like to remind people that driving through mud on plantations roads at any time is also unlawful and penalties apply.

Plantation forest closures fall under the Forestry Act 1959 and can be enforced by police, QPWS rangers and plantation officers. Fines for non-compliance currently range from $309 to $1,550. People are advised to refer to the Parks and Forests website www.parks.des.qld.gov.au for restrictions in relation to campgrounds managed by Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service in this area.

For your safety, please respect the closures during this time.

Keep up to date with our closures here.
