Worksite safety

We don’t ride through your worksite, please don’t ride through ours.

STAY OUT.
OUR FOREST WORKSITES ARE
CLOSED FOR A REASON

When you see worksite closure signs in our plantation forests, it’s not a suggestion, it’s a requirement. Forest worksites can contain hazards that make them unsuitable for public access, and entering without authorisation puts you and our workers at significant risk.

For your safety and the safety of our crews, if you come across an active worksite or closure signage, turn around immediately and choose another route through the plantation forests.

WHY YOU MUST STAY OUT OF ACTIVE WORKSITES

HQPlantations manages commercial forestry plantations across Queensland. While most of our plantation forests are open for responsible recreation, active worksites are not safe for the public.

Inside these active work sites, you’ll find:
  • Heavy machinery with multiple blind spots
  • Falling trees and branches
  • Steep, uneven ground
  • Hidden hazards even when the site looks quiet
  • Workers on foot, in vehicles and machinery, undertaking their jobs

Our operators are often focused on intensive tasks which require their care and attention. From inside their cabs, their visibility is restricted, meaning they may not see you until it’s too late.

In the video below, you’ll get a closer look at the conditions our crews work in every day, the machinery they operate, and the hidden dangers that make these areas unsafe for visitors.

Recognise and Respect the Signs

We follow defined safety processes to mark and communicate our forestry worksites.

When you see worksite closure sign:
  • Do not enter
  • Turn around immediately
  • Find another route
  • Use common sense; if in doubt, stay out. Even if the site looks inactive, hazards can still be present.

Your Safety Means Everyone’s Safety

Respecting worksite closures isn’t just about avoiding injury, it’s about keeping plantation forests open for recreation. The more we all follow the rules, the more areas we can continue to share with the public.

Stay out, our forest worksites are closed for a reason.

By following worksite closure signage, you protect yourself, our crews and the future of recreation in our plantation forests. We want everyone, whether working or visiting, to go home safe at the end of the day.
