Pennings Road, Benarkin State Forest harvest closure
From 14 May 2025, HQPlantations will commence harvesting near Pennings Road in the Benarkin State Forest. The operations are expected to continue for approximately six months.
The harvest area covers approximately 52 hectares and contains mature Araucaria trees planted back in 1967, which have now reached the optimal stage for harvesting. Once harvesting is complete, the area will be replanted as part of our ongoing commitment to forest sustainability and renewable resource management.
For safety reasons, Pennings Road and nearby access tracks will be closed to all recreational users and neighbouring communities during the operation. Signage and barriers will be in place to identify restricted zones. We ask all road users, hikers and cyclists to observe these closures and avoid the area while operations are underway. See map here.
We appreciate the community’s understanding and cooperation during this important activity and encourage all road users to exercise caution and be mindful of changed traffic conditions.
