Southern Pine

HQPlantations grows Caribbean pine (Pinus caribaea var. hondurensis), Slash pine (Pinus elliottii var. elliottii) and an advanced hybrid supporting a large softwood industry that uses the softwood we grow for house framing, flooring, mouldings, beams, plywood, medium density fibreboard, paper and landscaping.

See our Southern Pine Fact Sheet for more information.

HQPlantations Araucaria cunninghamii (hoop pine) estate represents a rare example of a native rainforest species grown successfully in a plantation environment. It is commonly used for speciality timber products including furniture components, doors and window frames, joinery, fine turnery, musical instruments, and aircraft and maritime construction.

See our Araucaria Fact Sheet for more information.

HQPlantations manages small spotted gum (Corymbia citriodora spp. variegata), western white gum (Eucalyptus argophloia) and Gympie messmate (Eucalyptus cloeziana) plantations on State Forests, freehold land, rented private land and a few remaining joint ventures. These hardwoods are popular for house framing and trusses, cladding, internal and external joinery and flooring, fencing, landscaping, retaining walls, boat building, external construction and utility poles as well as engineered wood products.

See our Hardwoods Fact Sheet for more information.
